I am about to turf a bit of my garden. It’s just soil at the moment and I could make it accessible to my two rabbits by using a pen that I can move around to different bits of the grass to let them graze.

Now is the time to lay something before I lay the turf to stop them digging for freedom. Have you ever done this? I’m thinking of some kind of mesh that would allow the grass to grow still but would stop them getting out.

        Is this over the top?
What could I use that would be safe and effective?

Welded netting, 1/2 inch, would be my suggestion. It would prevent the buns from digging their way out and predators from digging into the pen. Grass will grow through it.

It’s mostly girl buns (and young boys) that dig.
