We are planning to move our 3 buns from the large x-pen setup that we have inside to be free in the large screen room /lanai instead. I am wondering if there are any considerations that we aren’t thinking of regarding this move or special things we should be doing. Two rabbits had been living in an outdoor hutch before we took them about a year ago and the other has been infused since we took him from a rescue situation about 3 years ago. I’m excited to give them all this open space but want to do it right and safely. It has concrete flooring and is 2 walls of house and 2 walls of aluminum base for the screen area. Thanks!

The floor might hurt their feet…

The flooring could be a bit rough for them so if you can I would put down some memory foam mats or vinyl flooring with rugs/blanket spots.

I hear that fleece blankets are best because they can destroy and chew in easily

All of my rabbits have always loved being out on the screened porch during the day. They head straight for the door to go out on the porch early each morning, then they come back in the house in the late afternoon or early evening. It’s on the shady side of the house and there is a ceiling fan, so it stays pretty cool in summer. But if the days are too hot, or too cold in the winter, they come back in the house. Although they like the porch so much, it can be hard getting them to come back in the house.

The flooring is concrete, but we have a piece of indoor-outdoor carpet covering it, plus they have an extra rug in the corner where they like to hang out and sleep, a thick towel under their litter box, and they have 2 chairs with cushions that they can get up in too.

We did put a protective metal grill around the bottom 4 feet of the screen, and the screening is thicker and different from normal screen. I think it was called shade screen.
