I need to make some modifications to the current bunny set up and thought I’d throw it out here:

Currently, Oreo’s home base is an XL Dog crate and then we have a ginormous ex-pen around it for extra space (36″ high Midwest x-pen).  We close the x-pen when we are not at home or sleeping; otherwise, he’s out and has rights to our family room.  I need something to replace the x-pen – hubby is tired of seeing the huge x-pen in our family room (it is an eye sore) and it just takes up so much room.  I did try being creative with NIC cubes but that was a fail (or maybe it was just user error lol).

Can anyone suggest a gate that is not an eye sore for the house and that allows me contain him at night – again, something I can connect or “attach” to his home base?  The height of the current x-pen is 36″ H and he doesn’t even bother trying to get over that; I could probably go lower in height.  Was thinking about those free standing gates I see on Wayfair…Thanks!

          Hi!

I know NIC grids can be very flimsy if not secure with a whole lot of zip ties so i gave up on those haha.

Are you using the gate to block a door way or what exactly? Do you have a picture of his set up so we can see where you want the gate?

Could you remove a section or two from the x-pen to make it smaller and take up less room? The trouble with a lot of pet gates that are sold is that they have vertical slats that a rabbit could get their head stuck in. Those are intended for dogs, not rabbits. You don’t have to worry about that with x-pens and NIC cubes.  Some of those free standing gates are also  made of wood, which wouldn’t be good for a rabbit, since they would likely chew it.

Ahh, good points. Now that I revisit them…the slats are pretty wide.  Thanks for the feedback!
