  My bunny Waffuls had an episode where she had little white worms in her poops at the end of last year (October), and the vet gave her Panacur. She was worm free (seemingly) for this entire time. I’m almost 100% sure she said they were pinworms. They are small and thin and white/clear.
  
  Today I noticed the worms have come back. She has surgery for spaying next week on Thursday. I am concerned about complications with the worms post-surgery. I was thinking of giving her the Panacur starting tonight, and she would finish the first round of dosing the day before her surgery, then wouldn’t be due for another round of the medication until 2 weeks after. I am not sure if the bottle of Panacur is still good though, as there’s no expiration date.
  
  I’d like to talk to my vet about it, but am concerned because I won’t be able to speak with him in a timely manner as this is a holiday weekend and he won’t be back in the office until Wednesday (the day before her surgery).
  
  Does anyone know if having these worms will complicate her recovery? Or the shelf life of Panacur? I’ve had the bottle since October.
  
  Maybe I should just hold-off on doing anything until I speak to my vet…
  
  Thoughts?

  I’m afraid I don’t know enough about it to say what the right thing is, you don’t want to be giving expired medication. Is there another rabbit savvy vet that you could ring? They don’t even have to be in your area, just someone you can talk to that would know the answer

  Hmm… I wouldn’t think so… but I would definitely ask before they do the spay.

  I will call around tomorrow, but being a Sunday, and the day before Memorial Day – I don’t have high hopes that anyone will be in the office.
  
  I’ll absolutely bring this up to the vet before the surgery. I know when she had originally gotten the worms, they indicated that the worms could cause stasis issues or even blockages. I know buns can be especially susceptible to stasis after surgery, plus being on an antibiotic – it scares me. She doesn’t go outside, no. My vet thinks it was from her hay the first time she had it.
  
  My concern is waiting to push back her surgery even longer. She is already 5 years old, and I’m so scared about cancer. One vet I brought her to late last month had said they found a growth on her uterus and wanted to do surgery right away – no xrays, blood work, or anything; I took her in for a second opinion and the 2nd vet couldn’t feel anything. I scheduled the surgery just in case because I know the risk is so high for rabbits her age. *sigh*
  
  It’s been a stressful few months, as her sister has been going through weird digestion/stasis issues, but I think that is finally taken care of by removing a lot of the food she was eating from her diet. She has been better the last 4 days or so. I’m hoping it continues. Ah, I digress. I just hope everything goes well – I’ve had enough of frustration and exhaustion, and don’t need any more complications. I love my little buns more than anything, and I just want them to be happy and healthy! >.<
