        Hi there,
Quick question. When switching a buns hay, do you have to do it gradually? What’s the best way to switch.

Hay can be switched immediately, as it doesn’t cause any stomach problems like pellets or veggies might

The only thing is you may have a picky bunny who’s attached to one type of hay, and won’t eat a new type, in which case, mixing the types together is a good way to get them used to it

Grass hay doesn’t have to be switched out gradually, you can give the new hay right away. When you switch from alfalfa hay to grass hay, it often has to bone gradually, because alfalfa is much yummier and the bun might not eat the grass hay if you just exchange alfalfa for grass hay. (Alfalfa is technically legume hay, as is clover. It’s much richer than grass hay).

Yay thanks! We are adopting two rescues whoeat Timothy, but the dust bothers us and is less available here. We have locals who sell orchard by the bale or flake so I hope they love it. Lol I’ll just see if I can get a small bag or a flake.
