Finally! Long story short, we’ve been dealing with a lot of tummy issues with Dawn,a female black otter Netherland Dwarf, aka our ninja stealth bunny. Specifically, Cecal Dysbiosis. It has been a long grueling battle, involving a LOT of stains, rug cleaner and bunny booty washing. OY!
(Seriously, it wasn’t pretty. There was lots of grunting, tooth gnashing, foot stomping and hurt feelings. And that was just ME.)
So after buying far too many supplements, various foods, etc.etc. ad nauseum, the solution was…..more hay. :headdesk:
Basically, she’s a little piggy, who, given the choice of pellets and hay, will eat pellets to her gut bugs detriment. So she’s on an enforced feeding schedule, with pellets given twice a day, at the same time we eat breakfast and dinner (Cause we’re a family, darn it!), which forces her to go and nom her vast amounts of available high quality Timothy I have all over this tiny house. (Seriously, I have so much hay in so many places I keep expecting a Big Bad Wolf to knock on the door and inquire about little pigs.)
In less than a week her tummy was back on schedule, and no sign of poopy butt syndrome. Turns out her little tummy just can’t handle a lot of pellets and damned little in the way of treats. Which leaves me with all this (crunch) dried (munch) papaya (nibble) that I (snarfle) have no idea what to do with….(nom nom nom).
