So my older sister surprised me with a rabbit I had been eyeing at the location I mentioned in the chat thread. (I had gone to visit him three times)
So I now have another son! ![]()
I am going to need name ideas! Also, thoughts on what breed he is?
Here is a video link of him (more to come):
He is a little smaller than a full grown dwarf lion head (Finnegan). He is still young, but his ears aren’t *too* big. So I am not sure how big he is going to get. Finnegan seems intrigued by the smell of another rabbit haha ![]()
Haha, what a surprise Moxie! And congratulations!!
He will of course need a name
hehe
I would imagine if he’s a lionhead, he won’t get too big in general. Unless he’s a Flemmish lionhead! Gasp! Can you imagine!? ![]()
I am not allowing myself to get too attached as of yet, in case there is a need for me to rehome him. Nobody fixes small animals around here (well there is one place, but they don’t have a great sucess rate) , and having two unfixed male rabbits in the same house hold may just be too stressful/unfair to them, once this new rabbit starts getting hormonal.
I want what is best for them, even if that means the new bun needs a new home…
But maybe we can work something out =)
Finnegan showed distress (thumping), while the new bun was in my room, but seems fine after I moved the new bun to another location.
I don’t believe I will be bonding them (unfixed males…), but it would be nice if they could coexist in separate enclosures in the same room…
Guidance on what I should do would br very much appreciated ?

How’s that for some advice?!
Your situation is above my pay grade. So I am of no help. But congratulations anyway!
AWWW so precious! I think he could be a lionhead x holland or mini lop. He has very lop like ears. Have you seen photos of Heaven’s bunny Sam? They look really similar ![]()
Hi there! How are your bunny now?![]()

Okay, so here are my trains of thought:
Option #1) Find a new home for this new rabbit before I get attached.
Option #2) I found a vet whom is willing to fix rabbits, and seems to be credible/nice place. I could fix Finnegan so he wouldn’t be as aggressive/territorial (although that would still take like a month post op), in hopes that they could coexist separate, in the same room (and I could eventually fix No Name).
However, there would still be a couple months of stress as Finn is still hormonal man bunny who doesn’t like new rabbit. I also don’t want to risk Finnegan’s life going under surgery. If something happened to him, I would feel responsible and selfish.
What would you guys do? The shelter won’t take the new bunny. I have already checked, just in case…
From my understanding, a neuter is much simpler than a spay, meaning less risk involved. All of our boys have done wonderfully with their neuters
If it’s possible, can you keep No Name in a different area until you can fix Finn? Then once his neuter is complete, you could try cohabitating them in the same area, just make sure no teeth can get through the barriers. We have had good luck with neighbor bunnies. It takes a bit for them to get used to the idea of roomies. Maybe eventually you could get No Name neutered as well.
I don’t know if any of that helps or not lol.
No, it definitely helps BM! ?
Another concern with neutering Finn is after care. I still can’t touch him without him freaking out, so I am not sure how taking care of stitches would be
I can keep No Name in the room next door for now (my younger sister’s room), but it isn’t ideal long term. (Because although the big dogs are not allowed upstairs, she only has a babygate, and not an actual door, so I am always weary).
I just don’t want to get Finn sick from stress. I am not sure how likely that is though. He seems to be doing okay (still eating/drinking, not thumping. But he isn’t playing with his toys)
Hi Moxie! And congratulations!
It is of course up to you, but if you do decide to keep No Name, neutering is not nearly as invasive as spaying, and I’m not sure if this is the same everywhere but I didn’t have to care for any of my rabbit’s stitches after their spays/neuters…my vet used dissolvable ones, and I didn’t even need to clean them. Of course, you know your bunny best, but I wouldn’t be too worried about Finn’s stress levels, maybe if you introduce the smell of a new bunny slowly (put towels he has used close to Finn’s are for a few days/etc) He won’t mind too much after a while. Most rabbits can peacefully exist as neighbors once they get used to each other, provided they can’t physically touch! ![]()
Thanks for the input MK!
I am going to follow up with the vets and ask them a few more questions. If all goes well, I think I may nueter him. I just don’t want to be selfish in my decision, like “Oh, I want to keep the new rabbit as well, so I am going to risk Finn to make that happen.”
I know I am overthinking this, but I love Finnegan to pieces, and the goal of having another rabbit would be to eventually be a companion for him.
On another note, No Name is SOOO chill! I didn’t want to leave him home alone with the dogs in the house, and didn’t want to put him in my room, so I grabbed some food/water for him, put him in a pet taxi, and off we went about our day
(I got coffee and went to my cleaning job, where I clean a church. He liked hopping around and was such a curious little bugger. The Pastor thought he was the cutest thing. And No Name was always in a safe environment)
A couple friends and I run a once a month kids club, to provide free babysitting and work with the children, some of which are special needs. I may bring him with me again tomorrow and let him hang out in my friend’s bedroom (away from the kids), since they have no pets, and his room is super safe/clean haha
If No Name is super chill, he may be a perfect buddy for Finn, since he seems to be strung a little tight. I’ve noticed with our pairs, the best combo is chill and neurotic lol. Don’t give up yet!
You know……the more you hang with No Name the more attached you will get right? Haha ![]()
I know! I am already getting attached!
![]()
Congratulations! On both you and No Name.
I honestly think it would be possible to have him neutered. A neuter is quick. The bun isn’t kept under for long. Healing is as a rule uncomplicated. Both Bam’s and Yohio’s neuters went very smoothly even though Bam wasn’t a youngster. I had to syringe feed him once to get him eating, but that was all.
In order to not have to feel that you jeopardize Finn who you have committed to, you could perhaps have No Name neutered first. Before you attach. (Although non-attachment is very hard to do when it’s about animals.) If you want to/need to rehome him later, it’d be easier to find him a good home if he is neutered.

Hehe. I like this!
Wow. Mox! I haven’t been up to date with whats happening!
No-Name (Nonnie?) reminds me a little of Jersey when she was younger. Though this one looks like it might be a broken tort colouring.I wouldn’t be surprised if he grows to be a largish bunny.
Already pretty big tail! <3
Would your older sister take him on as her bunny if you do find it you can’t keep him by Finnegan? Or maybe the Pastor!
I do like this suggestion by Bam:

It shouldnt be on you to have him desexed if you were to rehome him (since it wasn’t your decision to get him) but it would make him more adoptable I should think.
I want to squeeze little No Name!
Another thought I had about neutering Finn. There are no guarantees, of course. But neutering may help him calm down a bit too.
Can you please name this bunny Beginnegan?
Lol! Beginnegan is cute
(late) Congrats! They are super cute. ![]()
Thanks OnyxMoon! (And everyone else for the congratulations!)
I suppose I am going to have to name the little bigger haha, so here are some of my suggestions:
Tarlo
Theodore
Oliver
Benjamin
Timothée
None of them *Scream* no name though. I may make a naming thread, because I need suggestions!
I like Jerseys suggestion of Nonnie lol ![]()
Gilligan!…haven’t heard that name in a while. Beginnegan made me think of it. Gilligan for a rabbit? Gilly? Gil? Anyway I ramble.
I actually do like Beginnegan…crazy…unique. BG? Begs?
Oh! And yes! Nonnie as well!
I love Nonnie. I also like Hannigan lol ![]()

Enabler!
Name him Bunnigan! (Put those rocks down. It’s early and I’m not reached my human functioning caffeine levels as yet.)
I like Beginnegan/Bunnigan, but am just not sure since it is pretty similar to Finnegan. Same about how I feel about the name Quinn (Finn), I like it, but I would CONSTANTLY call them by the wrong names, my poor brain might not be able to handle it haha
But they are not entirely off the table
Lol @ Bladesmith – I was thinking the same! Finnegan and Bunnigan….lol
I’m voting team Nonnie ![]()
Haha! Beginnegan! You’re killing me Jersey!
How about Liam? Like the children’s book. He could be William and then Liam for short.
Finn and Liam. Yep. Has a ring to it.
