Hi, I’m new to this website so bear with me lol!
I have adopted a Lionhead cross bunny who is about 7 months old now. He has no front teeth as he had them removed when he was a baby. I have had him for just over a week now. I’m looking for advice on his diet, if anyone can help! At the moment he has unlimited Timothy Hay and 1/4 cup of pellets per day. I started introducing carrots and cabbage but even when chopped up into tiny pieces, he struggles to eat them! I also have no idea how many vegetables he should be having because of having to slowly introduce them! Any help? Thank you!!

          Welcome Kirsty

Im currently looking after a little Netherland dwarf that had his incisors removed. It’s quite interesting seeing how well they manage. : ) He had his out later in life so he was already familiar with most foods.

For your rabbit, I’d maybe start out with some herbs, (like parsley, cilantro) that is easy for him to pull into back of his mouth like they do with the hay. Having things chopped too small might be what is putting him off. Cut cabbage or some dark, leafy greens into ribbons and see how he does with those. Carrot is something that should be given in limited amounds really. You could use a veggie peeler and make carrot ribbons or julienne strips.

For some rabbits, they can take a while with new foods and snub it at first. Just keep offering small amounts.. Often they go at it one day then develop a real taste for it.
