So i just got a rabbit from a teacher at school, i wasn’t given much information on her, but I’ve figured out that she’s a hare. Basically i was wondering if you feed Hares the same stuff, if they act the same, if bonding with them is the same. Stuff like that. Sorry if there’s information about this on here, I looked but didn’t see anything.

There are a couple rabbit breeds that are called hares, Belgian hare and Polish hare. They’ve been bred to look like hares, but they’re still rabbits. The difference between hares and rabbits is genetically rather profound, the two species don’t have the same nr of chromosomes. They can’t interbreed successfully.

There are no domesticated hares the way there are rabbits. The diet would still be much the same. Grass, grass and more grass Hay is equal to grass and should constitute 80-90% of a rabbit’s diet. Hares eat grass too.

Other differences between hares and rabbits are that hares don’t build warrens and they only get one baby at a time and the baby is born ready to run, just like a foal or fawn.

Yup just tons of Hay (Timothy, Oat, Orchard). Also you’ll have to giver her fresh veggies, and some store bought rabbit pellets. Wish you luck!

Do you have a picture of the bunny in question?
