        Hi everyone..

As some of you already know..im from Singapore..and Singapore weather is hot almost thru out the yr..this wk the temperature got as high as 33 degrees Celsius (its soo hot..even my marble tiles felt warm). which got me abit concerned. I read online..some source states 26/27 degrees is the best temp for bunnies..but i also saw one source that stated 21 degrees..

last night i left a small fan on for him..cos he felt quite warm..

i read somewhere i can mist his ears or use a wet cloth to wipe his ears n face..anyone tried this?? misting is like spraying water at his ears? is tt safe??

im also considering giving him cold water instead of rm temp water..is this advisable

You can put an ice cube in his water dish as well… because that heat will warm his water quite a bit. Yes, misting his ears can help, too. A week ago, here in NY, it was well above average temp for this time of year and my home was feeling the heat! My living room 95 F… at night! Which is 35 C… and I could see that Bun was feeling it too… so, I lightly dampened my hands with very cold water and rubbed my hands over her ears and her body… I did not soak her down… that’s not healthy at all.. but just put a light amount on her coat. I also dampened a cotton kitchen towel and stuck it in the freezer for about 15 minutes and then I put it under her thin fleece lining her cage where she sleeps at night, and she wouldn’t get off of it! The morning was very humid as well, so by afternoon, I repeated the towel trick and after a little while of flopping on it, it was easy to tell she was feeling better! There is a posting on the forum page about tips and tricks to help keep our bunnies cool in the hot weather. They also recommend frozen water bottles for them to snuggle next to… I was still a bit nervous about if she would bite the bottle and make a mess, so I thought of my old fashioned ice pack trick that I used for years with my migraines… now, as consistent warm weather approaches.. I will keep two clean cotton kitchen towels ready for her!

There are ice packs especially for bunnies if you are concerned about your bunny chewing a human ice pack or frozen water bottle (both work like a charm as long as your bunny doesn’t chew them). The brand is Snuggle Safe and the product is called ice pod. It is an unchewable icepack with a pleasant shape for bunnies to lay on top of/next to. There is also the cool pod, which is suited for traveling, as the bunny can sit on top of it without the risk of it being too cold. Don’t use an ice pod or ice pack in a carrier, as the bunny needs to be able to move away from those if they are too cold and a carrier is too small to do that.

I’m not sure if Snuggle Safe products are sold where you live, but I’m sure there will be something just like it on the market.

Yes Missy, 35 C, in May, in NY, inside the house, at night… is wicked! Especially since just 2 weeks ago I was pulling the winter plastic draft insulation off of the windows…! Went straight from needing hats and gloves, straight to needing AC… too bad I haven’t installed them back into the windows yet! But they can wait because still paying off my heating bills! Lol!

Thank You Daisy, I will certainly look for these and find them or something of the likes… I’m sure we will need them because I’m not a huge AC person and I know from past years how hot my living room can and will get.

Thank you Daisy and Muj Mom N Bun
i tried giving my bun chilled water..i cant tell if he likes it anot..he took a few mins to accept the chillness of it..before drinking up like usual..LOL
i placed ice water bottle in a cloth n tie it to the side of his chilling spot..

@ Daisy..i googled.. SG dont sell Snuggle Safe..but the frozen towel and water bottle Muj Mom N Bun suggested would be sufficient

when the temp rises..i realli regretted not insisting to install air con in our hse living rm when my hb insisted having air con in the living rm is a redundant.
