  I’ve been bonding cinnamon(female) and peanut(male) for a bit over a week now, both are neutered/spayed. They’ve made a bit of progress from their first session, but cinnamon still chases peanut, but I can’t tell if it’s fighting or not so I always break it up. Should I be breaking it up, or is that just normal? How do you tell the difference between fighting and chasing?

  Well it depends on a couple of things.
  1. Cinnamon is going to chase peanut because she wants to be dominant( most females are the dominant ones in relationships) so it’s okay let her chase him.
  2. Is Peanut freaking out and shaking while he’s being chased? If he is, get the both of them together and pet their head together so they calm down.
  3. Never break up a “fight” it usually is one trying to show dominance to another bun and trying to mount them- let the mounting only last couple of seconds or genitalia can be bit. When you break it up, the bonding has to start all over again and is more stressful on the 3 of you.
  4. If it is a real fight, break them up be immediately put their heads together and and pet their heads for a while and them separate them as soon as they calm down.
  
  I personally say she is just trying to mount him, chasing happens in bonding so don’t be too worried. If fighting actually starts occurring, let us know and we can help.

  A little short lived chase here and there is fine. Fast paced chasing is NOT and must always be stopped because it is a precursor to a fight.
