So, this is a pretty common thread here on BB. I’m not very good with breeds. While it really doesn’t matter, I am curious. I really have no idea. After looking at breeds, I was thinking Broken New Zealand but she’s a bit small at around 9 lbs.

I posted in one of my rabbit FB groups and most people were saying English Spot. I’ve never heard of that breed around here plus she doesn’t have the dorsal stripe.

        So, anyone have any guesses?

I think she is primarily a 50/50 mix of…..ummm…..cute and adorable. Maybe some fluffy mixed in. So yeh, a cute, adorable, fluff mix.

Obviously I don’t know anything. Before this website all I knew was angora (because we had one) and lop eared rabbits. And lop eared isn’t a specific breed…lol. And we called Icey an albino but I guess the more correct term is REW. Still not sure of that. Now I think I might know Californian (pretty easy) and lion head (again easy).

But otherwise….I got nothin’ on Elara.

And now looking at that last picture with her legs, I’d say she has some kangaroo in her as well. Her legs are as big as the rest of her body! (Obviously an optical illusion…)

I don’t see English spot at all. It’s a rare breed too. She does have the block-ish head of a New Zealand. She’s agouti though, right? Maybe she’s mixed with another meat breed?

A lot of people guess English Spots simply because of the markings, which usually don’t match properly anyway. It’s hard for people to see comparisons in body shape and form if they’re not used to looking at it. On most “what breed posts” I’ve ever seen if the rabbit has a broken colour pattern there’s always at least one person that says English Spot Even in English Spots though there are three colour patterns, solid, charlie (minimal colour) and marked. I don’t think you really see them with too many markings like Elara has. English Spots are an arched breed.

I’m certain Apollo is part/half NZ even though he’s only about 7 pounds, and that’s because he has the NZ eyes. So Elara could certainly still have NZ in her, even though she’s smaller than usual for them. It’s really so hard to say though than it looks like she’s possibly part NZ.

Long story short, I’m probably not much help except to say she’s not English Spot

Thanks, guys. I’m gonna just say NZ cross because that’s pretty likely, I think.

Lol, GordoandJanice, she is a leggy gal! And no tail, either!
