It’s really awesome that you consider your bunnies in this! You’re a great owner (or should I say bunny slave?
)
Solvents can become a problem for painters with pets: rabbits have very sensitive respiratory systems and this makes them prone to asthma-like symptoms. They react strongly to volatile chemicals. This is a must-know for people who use spray paints and oil paint which has to be diluted by turpentine. Most acrylic paints use water as a solvent, so that shouldn’t be a problem. For more information you could always ask your supplier.
Of course it’s also important that they won’t get into your painting kit, as many of the pigments contain heavy metal compounds and other possibly toxic substances. Make sure you don’t have paint residues on your skin or clothing before interacting with your bunnies, because they’ll ingest the paint if it gets into their fur.
Best prepare for getting some bunny fur in your paintings as they dry. We all know how that stuff floats around like magic fairy dust. Or get artsy, and call it your signature style
I’d love to see some of your art if you feel up to it, we have a lot of crafty folks on here and there’s an arts and crafts topic in the Lounge subforum. Feel free to share ^_^
