Hello? I have a female bunny around 7 months old. She is very sweet to me, comes to cuddle and has never tried to hurt me in any way. Few days ago I was gifted with 2 day old chicks. They live in a box till they are ready to go outside. Anyway I was holding on of them and Snowflake came around and smelled the chick and tried to bite it!! I was fast enough so nobody got hurt and they will never see eachother again but is it normal? Also today the chick touched me face while i was petting her and snowflake bit me in that spot so hard i nearly cried! It’s like sge was trying to cut a bit! I took a shower to get rid of the chick sent and she is sweet bunny again! Why is she acting like she is possessed? Am I doing something wrong? I am soooo confused!!

Hello maybe your bunny is feeling protective of her own space and you. She probably considers you and your house her territory and doesn’t want any other animals to invade. If I move anything around in my rabbit’s cage he’ll get grumpy and aggressive because he doesn’t like his things touched or moved. I would just suggest not letting her near the chicks and if you handle them just wash their scent off of you. I don’t think it’s really anything to be too concerned about since you said she goes back to being sweet once the chicks are gone. Good luck

It’s a foreign scent to her so most likely she feels like her territory is being invaded. Is she spayed? Unspayed females are very much more territorial so it’s best to get them spayed. It’s also necessary to do so as there is a high chance of contracting uterine cancer if left intact.
