When pre-bonding, would it be worthwhile to feed treats that smell like the other rabbit? For example, rubbing the treat with the fur of the other rabbit. I’m thinking this would make the rabbits associate each other with getting a treat but it might also backfire and they think the other rabbit is food.

        Thoughts?

haha I don’t think any rabbit would think the other was food! :p

But, eating is a very social activity in rabbits, so I’ve always made sure to feed the buns near each other (but on the same side of a fence of course) and at the same time during pre-bonding, so they associate the other rabbit with meal time and get used to having the other rabbit near them while eating. And if you give one a treat, give them both a treat so they don’t get jealous!

I think cage swaps should be plenty to get them used to smells, since that will swap food bowls, water bowls, litter box, hay rack, etc.
