Hello all. My girls, Milkshake and Pizza are both almost 6 months old. I reduced their pellets to 1/4 cup a day and added .5 ozs of greens. Dandelion, romaine lettuce (not the recalled one) and another one that starts with r, i can’t remember how to spell it. I have given them a small amount of carrot and broccoli with no problems. I have noticed that Pizza drinks 2 or 3 times more water than Milkshake. Is this normal? At night i give no more pellets and give a few more greens. At night i leave plenty of hay which they eat a lot of. I’m going to be trying different greens when these are gone. I thought about spring greens next. Next week will be 3 weeks since they were spayed and I’m going to start bonding them. I did take a suggestion off one of the bunny websites to switch out their cages every night, I’ve done that 2 nights so far. This is to get them familiar with each others smell. I don’t think i will have a problem because they kiss though the pen when i let one out to exercise. Does this sound ok or is there something I should change? Thanks as usual!

Is this water consumption for her normal? Has she always drank a bit more? My initial thought is she’s drinking more water because she has teeth discomfort. My Wick does this.

Hay is drying, so that is a possible explanation. If you find she’s having a lot of clear pee, that means she is drinking more than necessary, so it could be a health problem. Also if you notice her unable to control her peeing, be wary as well!

I noticed today she went back into her pen to use the bathroom, i had the gate open, because i don’t have a litter box on the outside of the pens. How can you tell what color pee she has when the litter is gray she pees in?

You can try and soak it up with some kitchen roll

Hay makes buns drink lots more. One winter when my Bam ate nearly only hay, he drank 200 ml/day. I had to refill his bottle all the time (he had a bottle back then). Normal water consumption for a bun is 100 ml/kg bun.

You could place a piece of fabric or a paper towel in the box and hopefully she’ll pee on it. If you don’t look at the pee stain right away it can change color when exposed to air. But practically any color is good. It’s completely clear and colorless that’s an observandum.

If the buns can kiss through the cage bars, they could also bite, and that could get very ugly. They shouldn’t be able to touch, for safety’s sake. Although it’s probably so crazy cute when they kiss that it feels like a shame to not let them =(
