        hey again guys

in order to make catching my rabbit Lemon easier after playtime i’ve removed his access to under my bed by placing a wire cage thing around it. he can still hide in my closet, amongst the curtains, or in a cardboard box i’ve cut a whole in, but he’s absolutely obsessed with getting under the bed, so much so that he pulls on the wire cage in attempts to move it.

will he eventually understand he can’t get under my bed? he’s still eating, binkying and sometimes napping in other parts of the room but i don’t like the way he’s obsessed with pulling at the wire trying to get under my bed :/

just wondering if rabbits, especially wild born ones like Lemon, ‘get over’ things, like will he get over the fact he can’t be under my bed anymore?

Sometimes rabbits can be especially determined and it can be very hard to deter them from things, especially when it’s something like a place that they have previously had access too. You may have better luck if you also create a visual barrier so that Lemon can also no longer see under the bed, rather than still being able to see it but not access it. Something as simple as cardboard attached to the inside of the wire would block his view.

My rabbit Bandit was stubborn in this way, once he was decided on something or knew about something, there was no putting him off until he found a way there. You may have extra troubles due to your bun being a wild one. Extra puzzle toys and play things will be a good distraction. Good puzzle foraging toys etc will help keep the mind occupied and distracted from the thought of under the bed. It may also help to put a small hiding box right next to your bed so that he can go in there and almost feel like he is still getting under the bed. Or, perhaps a sturdy hiding box (plastic or wooden) that fits under the bed, attached to the fencing around it so that bun can go under the bed into the hiding box but nowhere else under there and you would still be able to reach him

            Hahaha
I’m sorry I had to laugh when I saw the title of your post
My rabbits absolutely love under my bed
It’s like they think it’s a paradise under there
But yes if they are under there and I have to get them out, geez it’s hard

Your bunny knows how awesome it is under there.
As previously stated covering it with something so he can’t see under there would be the best option. But be prepared for that to be a permanent thing. If u take it off in the future he’ll see that awesome place again and go straight back there

thanks for the visual barrier idea!
i’ll get some cardboard and attach it to the inside of the wiring, also im looking at getting one of those plastic houses usually for cats and small dogs for him!
i had the cardboard box beside where he was pulling at the wire and he just got very mad at it and pulled it away then started biting it which was really funny. he now uses it as an aid to jump up and down from my bed, which i don’t mind (he likes to on me when i’m reading in bed) and will also get some more toys for him!
              thank you for your replies

I don’t have anything to add to Azerane’s suggestions, but Omg this just reminded me of Bunston. Years ago my roommate’s cat destroyed the lining on my box spring, and Bunston actually managed to get up INSIDE the box spring one day when we forgot to close my bedroom door!

We had one heck of a time getting him out! It involved a broom, and lots of frustration!
