Just a quick question, my bunny was spayed on Thursday, I gave her the last of her Metacam today (Tuesday). She seems her happy self again but I know rabbits are very good at hiding pain so I just wondered if you think she will be ok to go without any more painkillers ? This is my first spay so it’s all new to me.
        Thanks a lot

My vet said 5 days, so sounds about right to me Is the incision healing nicely? Is she eating and pooping normally?

            Thanks for your reply
She had trouble the first few days with eating and pooping so she had critical care and emperid to take home as well as the pain relief and she was in the vets for injections for a few days but everything seems to be back to normal, thankfully ! I’m so proud of how brave she is lol, she handled it far better than I did.
Her wound was glued instead of stitched but it looks to be healing well.
Can I ask how long it was before you let your bun out into the garden after surgery?

If she’s eating and pooping normally then she should be totally fine! Do keep an eye on her for the first day without medication, in case medicine was making her feel better, and she stops eating without it, but I think that’s unlikely after 5 days

I don’t have a garden, so my bunnies are totally indoors. I think I kept her in a small cage for about a week, but after a week she was hopping around normally. I would probably keep her indoors for a couple of weeks, just because you don’t want mud or anything getting into the incision while it’s healing.
