I noticed today that these weird sounds were coming from Cookie. Very loud and happen while she drinks water. It sounds kind of like a human gulping down water sometimes and sometimes it sounds like wheezing. The vet did say she has a very small point on one of her molars and that we need to feed more hay and greens. We’ve done that but could it be teeth pain? Please help.

Is this new sounds that weren’t there before? My buns always seem to make a lot of noise when drinking water, but I’m not sure if that’s common or I just have greedy buns ?

My bunnies sometimes make very weird noises when drinking. Kind of gulping and gurgling.

But if it is an entirely new noise, then it could be related to tooth pain. I know some bunnies drink more when they have toothache to try and dull the pain.

My bunnies both make gulpy noises when drinking. Sometimes they sound squeaky. Especially Peanut. I can sometimes hear it from the next room lol. Having said that, it shouldn’t really be wheezing type sounds. Is it definitely wheezing? I wonder if she’s drinking a bit too quickly.

Does it sound like a rubber squeak toy? Thor sometimes makes squeaky noises like that while drinking (in fact she’s doing it right now as I type this!). They can get pretty loud. For many buns this can be a normal sound and nothing to worry about.

Has Cookie been drinking more water lately?

This is definitely new, in the past couple days. I don’t think her level of water consumption has changed. It sounds more like wheezing than squeaking. Should I call the vet and check?

If it’s wheezing, I would think she’s trying to drink too quickly and is sort of inhaling it. Usually, bowls are better because it allows bun to drink more. Bottles take more work to get a decent amount of water out. Having said that, a bottle might be better as she wont be able to drink too much at once. Maybe try that? Of course it would still be worthwhile calling your vet to query too.

Toby never did this when I first got him but when he turned around 2 months, he started doing it. It scared the crap out of me when he did it cause I also thought it was wheezing or something bad. I think it’s because they drink their water too fast. Before Toby was 3 months, I didn’t give him veggies so maybe he drank more water since he didn’t have veggies. Is your bun still a baby? Does he eat veggies yet? Adult bunnies do this too cause they just drink too fast. My dog even does

my bunny does this also, it’s nothing to worry about, unless Cookie is showing other symtoms of pain or discomfort
                        hope I helped
