I guess there was a small chunk on the ground that went unnoticed, but Rain went ahead and ate some cookie dough. I think she ate a chocolate chip in it. It was a small piece, and I got most of it away in time, but she still consumed some chocolate. I’ve got her on hay and veggies right now, and will give my vet a call tomorrow evening. There is no emergency rabbit vet at all in my area. What can I do besides monitoring her poop? My goal is to get it out of her system. She’s been eating everything for the past thirty minutes. I’ll watch until midnight and see if any changes occur.

Was this milk chocolate or dark chocolate? That can make a huge difference.

Dark. I’ve read that it’s even worse. Luckily, it’s been over twelve hours now, and she’s been doing great. Poops are a little bit darker than usual, but are still abundant and normal shape and size. She hasn’t been hyper active either as chocolate usually causes. No lethargic behavior. She’s been excited for food like always and eating normal amounts of hay. My mother had observed her while I was at school (she knows her very well and can tell if something is off) and said she ate her hay and drank water like normal. Overall, I think everything is fine. But I’m still being careful for the rest of today to watch any changes in behavior and eating.

The dark poop could mean that the dark chocolate is passing through, so that’s a good sign. Hay should continue to help the guts get going so it’s good that she’s eating normal amounts too.

Glad she’s ok! As LBJ stated, dark chocolate is so much worse. You did the right thing in making sure she ate plenty of hay and water to get the chocolate out of her system.
