In order to try and keep Storm’s matts under control I brush her on a near daily basis. Unfortunately she has started to develop several bald spots where the matts are still really bad. I know the fur will eventually grow back but I also know that the fur is important for regulating her temperature. Should I keep up with the daily grooming or cut back to every other day?

I’m confused, is it the grooming that’s causing the bald spots or the mats? If it’s the mats, I think you should have a vet shave bunny and then start grooming daily to keep the mats at bay.

I agree with Sarah, I’d have her get a quick shave where the mats are and then just groom from then on. Grooming her mats the way they are now will only make her stressed and will cause you too much trouble.

I believe my attempts to brush out the matts is what’s causing the bald spots. I have a general check up scheduled for 5/2 (2/5 for those in the UK). I don’t feel comfortable trying to shave her by myself.

No, I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it either. Definitely ask the vet to do it, but you might need to let them know that’s what you want before the appointment (so they can give a longer appointment slot) Once it’s all shaved, groom daily and you should be fine
