As we all know, I now have a bonded trio! Yaaaay.

However, this brings me to the issue of how to transport them all as a group. Our vet is a half hour drive away, so hopefully the longest they’ll be in it for is an hour and a half round trip.

Are there any guidelines on how big it should be (eg, like the hutch guidelines from the RWAF)? Do they need to be able to hop around, or just have enough space to sit in separate corners if they want? Is a supersized cat carrier enough?

For guidance, Atlas and Nimbus are around 1 kilo each, and Luna is 2 kilos, so they’re all quite small buns.

I use the K&H carrier for long car travel. It’s not a carrier for walking transport, but it provides good stability and doesn’t shift. And the bed it comes with is washable.

Wick is slightly less than 1 kilo and I bought him the medium sized one. He doesn’t use the entire thing, so I think the large one could fit 3 very nicely.

Generally I think they say slightly smug is better to prevent the rabbit from getting harmful trajectory from sudden stops. Enough room to turn around suffices.

Thanks Wick! That looks like a great carrier. Does it have a solid bottom? Eg, would I be able to carry them into the vets in it?

The other thing that makes me wary is last time I put Luna in a fabric carrier, she made a prison break in approximately 15 minutes… but perhaps with the boys she’d be better behaved.

My six kilo buns go in a cat carrier (one each! – i couldn’t carry 12kgs with one hand!!)
So I’m guessing your three can share for a short while…. lol
And yes, a snug fit is better in the event of an impact.
