Our lionhead had a litter yesterday and accidentally killed two babies. Now she’s tearing apart her nest with the last baby in it and jumping all over the poor thing. I held baby to her nipples to make sure it got fed and the removed the nest from her hutch until she calms down. I’m afraid to give her the baby back. It’s fat, warm and sleeping in it’s little furry hole in a box on my bed. Do I just keep holding it to mama 2-3 times a day? I don’t know what to do. I know it should be with its mom but she doesn’t seem to realize the baby is in the box and keeps pulling all the fur and hay out and spreading it all over her hutch ? I’ve never even seen a baby rabbit before but it seems healthy ❤

Rabbit babies don’t lie with their mom, the mom just comes to feed them 1-2 per day. So I think it’d be good if you hold the kit up to the mum 1-2 times a day and keep it separated from mummy the rest of the time.

A first time mum can be a bit confused about the whole situation. Give her extra food (extra pellets and alfalfa hay).
