We found a baby bunny under our car 6 nights ago, very late at night. I sat down to take his picture and he hopped right into my hands! He then hopped over to my mom to be petted. He let me pick him up with only a bit of squirming and we kept him over night, suspect that he wasnt wild. The next morning he greeted me with a lick and groomed me a bit. He’s extremely tame and always has been as you can tell, seeing as how it’s only been 6 days. His poop was very small, very hard and not exactly round when we first got him. Now, it is round, normal size and can be squished between your fingers. His coat is now long and bushy and he’s grown in size considerably. He loves to be held and cuddled, is not afraid of strangers and is just overall a very tame bunny. My profile is me cuddling him earlier tonight, as you can see, hes got very chubby cheeks!

Can you post a picture of him? It’s hard to see from his avatar what his head shape and ear shape is.

He sounds like a real cutie

Agreed, icons are too hard to see to tell details, really. Can we get a bigger picture of just him? Since he is so calm to humans and needy for pets, I would assume hes tame, ‘wild’ or otherwise. But, you do need to be a little careful if he is considered a wild bun, as youll have to make sure its legal to own one in your area.

I’d also suggest reading up on proper diet for a bunny, especially a baby bunny as their tummies are so sensitive and can have GI issues. And definitely get him to a good bunny-savvy vet to just give him a once over and make sure he doesn’t have issues.

When you say you can squish the poops, do you mean they crumble or they are actually squishy?

              Enjoy your new little one

I thought I had uploaded pictures, unfortunately, I guess not.
As far as I can tell, they are legal to own where I live and my bird breeder kindly pointed me to the vet she uses for her cottontail in case my guy is one.
It’s not squishy or crumbly, just able to be squished like any poop. Like a normal consistency I guess, lol. It was rock hard when we first got him. Hes been getting unlimited Timothy hay, fresh dandelion greens, a few slivers of carrot(tiny pieces) and a tiny bit of fresh grass. He mainly is getting the hay and dandelion. I’ve been trying to introduce him to alfalfa pellets, but he wants nothing to do with them. I’ll try again to post the pictures.

Did he/does he have a white blaze?

No white blaze at all. His feet and belly are kind of white though.

The reason I asked is normal bunny poop should be sorta crumbly if that makes sense. Like this http://i.imgur.com/UdViYtQ.jpg

He’s a little darling! He does look rather young.

I believe it is like that once you squish it. I’m at campus currently, but once I get home, I’ll check again just to be sure.

Which country do you live in? And if it’s the US, eastern or western? I rehabilitate rabbits in the Eastern US. It doesn’t look like an eastern cottontail to me but coloring can surprise you. How does it act now that it’s older?

Im leaning more towards yes, that he is ‘wild’. But, if it is legal where you live to own them, its possible someone else had him and dumped him. Or even that he was a rescue/rehab/release and although acclimated to the outdoors now, he still sees humans as safe.

My mom used to rescue/rehab/release hurt wild buns, and I am thankful to live in an area where wild bunnies are common (sooo cute to watch!). He looks like all of the ones Ive ever seen.

Super cute. So hard to tell with a really young bunny, but to me, looks like a baby Snowshoe Hare, which is the type of bunnies we have here in New Brunswick. From what I’ve seen they sometimes do and sometimes don’t have white spots. The dark ear tips really make me think Snowshoe Hare, but as mentioned, it depends on where you live and what type of wild rabbits are around.

I do live in the US in the South West. He looks somewhat like the wild baby bunnies, but kind of not. He is energetic, but very tame. He loves to give kisses and enjoys being brushed while we’re holding him. My mom used to raise baby bunnies at one point and she said that he’s calmer and more tame than any of the bunnies she had. Hes not afraid of strangers at all and just overall very affectionate.
I believe he was dehydrated when I first got him and just not eating very well because of how poor his poop was.

Just have to say he’s very cute! I have no idea if he’s wild or not but he does look very young. It’s great your mom has experience with baby bunnies so she can give you advice on how to care for them. Sounds like he found a good home!

He does have the colourings of a wild bunny, but there are also domestic buns with this colour. I guess you’ll have to wait till he/she is older to see

                                      It’s super cute btw!

They do tend to be a slightly different color in the Midwest. I agree with the others. Without a profession hands on seeing it, your best bet is to wait and see.

We’ll wait it out ti see how it goes, his ears seem a bit longer than the wild buns’ around here too. Plus he’s so tame.

It’s hard to tell when they are this young. Right now, his head shape suggests domestic. I think you might have to wait until he’s a bit bigger.

I noticed that as well. We’ll just have to wait and see I suppose though, as nerve racking as that might be.

It is just like that now. It kind of crumbles once squished.

If he’s domestic, I wonder if his ears are going to lop. They have a lop-ish quality to them.

Maybe you’ll even end up with a little helicopter Keep us updated and posting cute photos! There’s never enough bunny photos.
