I play clarinet, or at least I used to. It’s been a few years. Anyways, I was thinking about picking it back up and playing again, but I’m not sure how the boys will react to it. Does anyone play an instrument and how do your buns react? I’m not a brass player, so sadly I don’t have the luxury of using a mute.

oooh fire that baby up!!!! XD

In all seriousness, I imagine that they would be ok with it. It’s a softer sound than the piercing sound of a brass instrument. They might not like it at first. They might even thump at you, but don’t take that as an insult Could you imagine how spazz Ophelia would react if I got back to playing trombone?

I think it’ll simply be habituation. They may get spooked at first, but over time they should get used to it after realizing the sound won’t harm them. My dryer makes a terrible loud buzz noise when it’s done and Wick isn’t fazed at it at all anymore. I get more spooked than he does.

I play the flute, which used to freak Cookie out. All those high notes?. Unfortunately, I also play piano and that is in the room right next to Cookie and I can’t move it. So what i did was I played in a room farther away, then moved closer. Another thing my friend did with her guinea pigs was play some calm viola music softly so they calm down

??? I ordered some Star Wars and video game sheet music to *attempt* to regain my former glory. That’s good to know that maybe they’ll adjust to it. Thanks Cookie for the suggestion! We rent two rooms in a house so I only have one room to play in. I’m going to try to play softly, but that high octave does get reallt squeaky above the staff ??

They may get spooked whenever you pick it up to play, but 5-10 minutes into your practice, they will probably ignore the sound. Then get spooked again the next day and repeat the process until finally they are just generally used to it lol!

I play Violin in front of Caroline and I try to be quiet. She will perk her ears up and just sit and watch. I try to mostly pluck the strings so I dont frighten her though.

I looooooooooooooovvvvveeeeeeeeeee violin!!! I tried to teach myself….which failed epically. I played trombone for years in marching band, and I think the hardest part about trying to play violin was trying to read treble clef instead of bass clef!

Another thing you could try is letting your bunnies see you playing, that way they may understand where it’s coming from, and if they know it’s you making the noise they may be less scared. I don’t know why exactly, but Cookie was a little more relaxed when she saw it was me playing it.

I played Clarinet in Junior High. Loved it but I had to practice outside or in the car because my Shih Tzu would howl.

The Easter Bunny brought Evi a recorder and Elara wasn’t too impressed at first but she got used to it. Bindi can’t hear so he didn’t care.

I play Mandolin and the buns don’t really care. Sterling seemed to enjoy it and would often lay near me while I was playing.

Ricky plays guitar but mostly just downstairs. When he used to come upstairs and we had Olivia, she would thump at him. She was very sensitive. She would thump if you were eating something crunchy.

hahahaha LPT I love your tales. Olivia reminds me of Bombur. You get up the wrong way and he’s off thumping xD

BunNoob- You should try and learn Violin again. I have become pretty good at it, just started this year though…

Violin is a lovely instrument. Find yourself a teacher if you can and you can definitely learn. Learn the fundamentals, like posture and shifting, and from there, you can be a bit more independent and learn on your own.

Let us know how your buns enjoy the music!

My boyfriend is in a band and sometimes him and his other band mate have acoustic practice in our living room Garf loves it and sits and watches them! He’s usually flopped out whilst they play if not so I wouldn’t worry!

Instrument wise that’s guitars/piano and them singing so quite noisy but Garf enjoys it

Bombur was totally okay with it. He acted like nothing was even out of the ordinary, which is odd for him because God forbid you move one little object in the room and he’s in a tizzy about it. Asriel, I’m not too sure how he was. He sat up really straight and just seemed super alert. No thumps from either though, so I’m counting this a win.
