After leaving the house, i came back to find that the bunnies’ hutch was full of darker and moister poop than usual and I’m very concerned… I took them outside today for the first time and they ate grass. Could this have anything to do with this? Please help ASAP if you can!

          Hey there!

What does the poop look like, are there singular moist droppings or does it look more like a bunch of grapes?

Rabbits produce two different kinds of poop. One is normal ball shaped, tends to be drier and firm, holds it shape.

The second is called cecaltropes, which is rich in vitamins and minerals, that’s why they’re more moist and squishy. Rabbits usually eat these, if theres only one or two every so often, that’s normal. But if its in excess, like you find a lot all the time, diet changes should be made.

My bun wasn’t eating his or he was just producing a ton, so I gave him some pumpkin to add more fiber in his diet and that helped him. Ill still see a few here and there.

As for the grass; the only concern I’d have is if the grass had any chemicals or has been treated with pesticides. How old are your buns? It could also be possible the new food (i.e the grass) just upset their stomach. Hence the abnormal poo.
