My rabbit is over a year old, and all of a sudden he has been producing a lot of cecotropes BUT I haven’t changed anything about his diet. I have always fed him a little bit of pellets, hay, and mostly parsley, lettuce, spinach, cilantro, arugula, and dandelion leaves. After reading this forum a lot it seems its common for young rabbits or if there is a too rich diet/change in diet, so I’m not sure why he has started doing this all of a sudden. What could be going on? Is this diet too rich?

Does he have unlimited hay? How much greens do you give him? It should be 1 cup of leafy veg per 2 pounds of bunny. Often times a bunny that gets a lot of greens can have them. I’ve also noticed that their guts can change over time, so what they once were able to consume just fine they now can’t. Bombur used to be able to eat a good handful of parlsey, but as he has gotten older he tends to produce more cecals if I feed him more than a few sprigs.
