Hi! My bunny Onyx has a little lump on his side. I found one back in November and when I took him to the vet for it, it was gone! Then in December I found another one, and within two or three days that was gone too. Now today, I found a little tiny one on his left side. What in the world could this be? He is a house bunny..

I’d say an abscess, but those don’t typically go away and come back without intervention. Is it possible that your rabbit is getting bug bites or some such? It seems rather odd for random lumps to come up and disappear. I’ve never known an abscess to vanish out of no where, especially in such a short time frame. And we all know cancer doesn’t just vanish, so I doubt it’s that.

I am honestly at a loss here. If you manage to catch it with the vet, let us know! I’m interested in what could cause something like this. Also, next time you notice the lumps, get as many clear pictures from as many angles as you possibly can. That may help in identifying the issue.

I agree that it sounds like some sort of bug bite if the lump is tiny (smaller than a mosquito bite). Maybe a spider bite?

I don’t think it can be a big bite.. it feels like a little tumor but has so far always gone away.. his fur is really thick so I wouldn’t be able to get a picture of it unfortunately. It is weird..

Is the lump(s) always in the same spot, or a different spot each time?

Is the lump hard or soft? Is it detached from the skin? Maybe it’s a cyst or something.
