Hi all,
Today I adopted this bun from a farm. She was bred by someone breeding meat rabbits. The breeder noticed eye issues with her and decided to keep her and treat her, making her a pet. She’s never been to the vet, and she will be going as soon as we can get her in.
When adopting her, the breeder he said she was blind so I of course fell for her already. I went into this thinking it’s just a genetic defect and she just needs some extra TLC. But up close I can see some pretty obvious scar tissue and her eyes are super watery all the time. She likes to keep them closed the majority of the time as well. So I’m thinking these are corneal ulcers that will eventually need to be treated as I assume they’re super painful!
The breeder was super nice and genuinely cared about this girl. She was hand raised so she’s super friendly as well.
I’m looking for owners who’ve had these issues with their buns and how they went about treatment. Is this similar to an ulcer/abrasion?
Some facts about her:
-Her name’s Ginger
-She was born around Christmas (approx. the 23)
-New Zealand Red
-Issues in both eyes
-Can see a very limited amount (probably just light)
