I recently got two such rabbits who are sisters and totally bonded . They are 9 weeks old. They share the same cage . I have started to open the cage and let them hop
Around the kitchen. Hattie came straight out and hopped around and rubbed her chin on everything. Penny did come out at all she seems frightened. However the following day I opened the cage Hattie jumped out as usual and penny followed a few mins later. After 5 mins of hopping about they got into a fight circling each other and fur flying . We stopped it fast and penny jumped back into the cage and Hattie followed and they groomed each other. Since then Hattie comes out but penny won’t.
I’ve never had rabbits before so advice is needed as I keep reading conflicting information on what to do

Babies cannot bond, so unfortunately they are not bonded.

You need to separate them, as they will only fight more as their hormones kick in. When they are old enough, spay them, and then go through the full bonding process. Check out the bonding info under the “Bunny Info” tab for the basics.

Baby bunnies will get along and seem as if they are bonded, but that is not a true bond. It doesn’t matter if bunnies are siblings or have been together since they were only a few weeks old. As soon as their hormones come into play, everything changes. They do need to be separated now, and not even allowed out to play together at all. Letting them be together for any length of time may very well lead to increased fighting and severe injuries. They also may come to dislike each other so much if they are fighting, that they can never be bonded. Vets normally spay rabbits when they are 5 to 6 months old, so you will have to house them separately until then. About a month after their surgeries, for them to recuperate and for the hormones to abate, you can start the bonding process.
