        ***TW: Descriptions of neglect/mistreatment***

        Hi everyone,

I am looking at taking home a rabbit which is being advertised as free to a good home – has been used for breeding. He looks to be in a bad way – he is all matted and he has a bald patch like a band from his ear around his eye and face. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what could be causing this – I’m thinking maybe mites. I’d like to have a better idea of what it might be before I take him home.

Here is the link to the rabbit:

If you have any ideas on what it might be (and what kind of treatment it would require) that would be so helpful!

        Thanks!

I can’t see the bald patch, but he looks very neglected. He doesn’t look like he’s been groomed properly at all. He’s a lionhead, so he would need to be groomed often. If it’s mites, it’s an easy treatment of Revolution. It could also just be from shedding or from a fungal infection. If it’s a fungal infection it would also be pretty easy to treat too.

Thanks for the info. I’m hoping to pick him up on Saturday and hopefully with a bit of tlc any issues will be sorted

Also, if you have other rabbits, it’s important to keep them separated until you know what the cause is so if it is something like mites or a fungal infection they don’t get it too
