My bunny Levi is in the middle of litter training. He has peed on people several times (usually me) and has peed on the bed once or twice.I will watch a show on my laptop or something and he will lay next to me and snuggle for a bit.But I have started putting down a towel most of the time because 2 times he has peed on my bed.Even then I have to wash his towel or sometimes his towel is already dirty, and I am sure his pee might soak through it anyways.I was thinking I could get something that I could put under him, a yoga mat or something, that would keep the pee off and be easy to just wipe down.and the other reason I want to have him hang out there in bed with me is, I put on a show I like and when the opening and music for it came on he got really excited and curious, running back and forth and stopping in his cage closest to the screen to periscope.I don’t think he was scared, even seemed to like it maybe.I want to try and see if he likes watching it with me,it would be good bonding time

Does any one have any ideas of what I could use instead of a towel?do you think a yoga mat would work,or would the pee not work well with that for some reason?

I always think about baby supplies. You can purchase a waterproof diaper changing mat, which is like a reusable version of the puppy pee pads people recommend, which are cheap, but only one time use.

The diaper mats are lined below so pee doesn’t get through, and the top is soft.

thank you wick! I will have to try that.It is gonna have to wait a bit, in between jobs right now(I moved and changed caretakers)so the budget is lower.I just did an interview the other day at feeders supply(I know some people here are from other countries, feeders supply is a chain pet store I admire them because they get their puppies and kittens from the humane society not a puppy mill)but I will definitely try looking for that in 1 or 2 weeks!

If I remember, Levi is still fairly young, right? So a lot of him peeing places is probably because he’s not neutered and it’s hormonal. A lot of buns do also like to pee on soft spots, so even if you do ever decide to neuter him, he could still be one of those buns that like peeing on soft places.

yeah. And at some point I might be getting him neutered just have to wait til he is ready and get things lined up,But the mat might be good anyways maybe to put in his cage as well,he usually isn’t a big chewer and he only has bedding in his litterbox now.I keep the towel in with him usually but he isnt fully potty trained so it gets dirty quick.

and thanks for mentioning that, I didn’t think of any of it being hormonal yet.

Sam is not neutered and he went through a spell of peeing on my bed too!

                    Best things I found:
                    1) A waterproof picnic blanket (one side waterproof material, one side soft) laid across the bed, doesn’t look too offensive and if he pees it won’t soak through
                    2) a blanket which has been in Sam’s cage and already had his “smell” – since bunnies like to mark their territory, perhaps he didn’t feel the need to pee on it since it already smells of him.

                    Give those a try! <3

I bought one of these (even though they are meant for children) and my bunnies love it! It gives them the freedom to run around, but also if they make a mess its easy clean up. And if they want to dig, it doesn’t affect the floor. Would highly recommend!!

Been there, done THAT! My boy managed to get his pee/spray in our mouths and even my cuppa tea – YUCK! When our bunny jumped up on the bed, we learned to close our mouths and have our pillows ready for ‘defence’ as soon as he turned his back on us. The day we sent him away to be ‘family’ FRIENDLY, we never worried or missed him! We spent the day scrubbing his pee off our walls and bedroom furniture.

Do NOT be fooled!!! It takes about 4-6 weeks to take effect. How do I know? Just trust me, I KNOW!!! Damn!

He eventually stopped being the ‘worst pet ever’ and we sorta started to like him (sorta).

Bahaha JH! I wish you luck Levi’s mom. We only let one of our buns on the bed and only once. I had no idea a bunny could pee so much! Kieko must have a bladder the size of a basketball which is pretty impressive for a 3 1/2 pound bunny! Never again!
