We had to temporarily move Gary to another to prevent him from going at the new bunny, and while he is awaiting his neuter.
However, the floor tiles are super slippery, and he doesn’t seem to like the rugs we’ve played out for him.
He does a ton of binkies (or tries) on the floor, and we’re worried he’s going to fall and hurt himself, as he always ends up slipping when he lands.
Also, sometimes he thumps during the binkies.
There is no cause for this, as most of the time, we aren’t touching him at all.
Anyone have any tidbits of knowledge to share?

Binkies are not always happiness. Binkies, most accurately, are an expression of a burst of energy, which can stem from happiness, frustration, and/or anger. Thumping during binkying could be more indicative of frustration or fear.

Any other rugs, blankets, or mats you can put down temporarily? A rabbit needs a good sized area of positive traction.

I guess it all depends on the context. Panda rarely binkies. but bunloafs/bunny-rugs/bunny-puddles frequently and flops fairly often. Fernando is more energetic and binkies at least once a day when out in the X-pen, usually followed up by a flop or bunloaf/puddle/rug. Both of them always flop out after having their evening oats.

Binkies can also be used to confuse the predator or if they dont like something they are feeling. Likewise, thumps can sometimes be used in over excitement episodes.

Since hes falling often and is rejecting rugs you put in, I am more inclined to believe he is throwing an unhappy fit. He heeds traction. Lack of traction/slipping on the floor can cause hip, joint, knee, and legs problems/pain. Youll need to fix that asap.

Maybe you can cover the floor in blankets and put tiles on the corners to hold them in place. That would make it so he isn’t sliding and the tiles hold it in place
