Hi! I would love to know what veggies and approximately how much of each everyone feeds their bunnies daily. I get mixed answers when I google the best veggies to feed them so I’d love to hear what everyone else does.

Also, if anyone would be so kind to sorta review the veggies I’ve been feeding my Dwarf Lionhead/Hatot Mix (not sure of his weight yet but he is about 6 months old), and tell me if it’s ok, too much/too little, or recommendations for changes or replacements, that would be great. I’ve been feeding him daily:
Red Leaf Lettuce (about a handful)
        Kale (about half a leaf)
Collard Green (a few pieces cut to about 2 sq. in.)
        Cilantro (5-6 sprigs)
Green Bell Pepper (half of one strip)
        Broccoli (one piece)
Carrot (a quarter of a baby carrot)

He doesn’t like parsley, by the way. Thanks everyone

That sounds like a lot and a lot of variety for a 6 month old bun. Especially a dwarf. But it also depends how quickly you introduced all of these veggies. And that may be a lot of sugar in that amount of carrot for his body size. I don’t feed fruit everyday personally because of the sugar issue (I catagorize carrot with fruits for its sugar content. This is an excellent reference on diet, my go-to hung on my fridge.

Really? He clears these veggies in like 5 mins so I was worried it was not enough, not too much lol! The carrot is actually more like every other day but I’ll reduce that more.

Ha ha! I know how it feels. You feel like your starving your baby bun ? both my buns will keep eating veggies and fast. It’s usually a good way to tell if something’s off with your bun is their veggie consumption. Sounds like you just have a happy healthy eating bun ? But you do have to be the judge of how much is enough because in my experience they will not regulate themselves.

And I know weighing your bun sounds crazy but it is a really great idea. Keeping a healthy weight for a rabbit is essential ? Knowing their weight also indicates about how much to feed.

Makes sense. I have guinea pigs who are the same way. I just feel so bad when they act hungry! But I’m just glad Wumbo is eating veggies at all. When I first rescued him, he was a bit messed up in the GI because the people who abandoned him weren’t feeding him hay. He seemed so confused when I offered him hay the first night I had him! Now he’s great and I’m grateful for that, but I gotta be careful with the amount of veggies lol! Thank you for your help!

Yes I am looking into getting a scale for him. Unfortunately the only vet who sees rabbits in my area didn’t have any appts available til April 4th but I will find out for sure then and let you know.

Hey there! I have a 4 year old rescue, mystery dwarf mix (he is quite small, perhaps lionhead mix? Not super sure!)

I feed him romaine lettuce quite often, he really enjoys kale and tolerates collard greens, but he does not enjoy bell pepper or asparagus. Haven’t tried any parsley, mint, or basil yet but its next on my list!

He also gets celery when we have it, and gets carrot as well. It is high in sugar so its limited, but he is pretty under weight so the vet wants me to fatten him up so he gets that every so often. He also gets cucumber skins.

Ive heard they like raddish as well.
