        Hi,

I have a 10 month old male French Lop who is molting his winter coat (he is an indoor/outdoor bun who spends a lot of his time outdoors, so he had a very thick winter coat). While brushing him yesterday I noticed the fur around his back leg was literally coming out in clumps. There’s some pigment underneath indicating new hair growth, but his leg looks very sparsely furred and almost bald. I have three other buns who I haven’t encountered this issue with before. Is this normal, or should I be concerned? He’s not itching, the skin looks very healthy and not flakey at all, I was just alarmed when I noticed how sparsely covered his little leg is.

It can happen especially if the bun gets plucked or brushed a large patch may come off and leave a bald spot. She’ll push out the new fur soon enough if she’s feeling chilly, so don’t worry!
