I read over the forum rules and am quite unsure if this is permissible, so if not, I understand if this gets taken down.
I am a part of a fortunate group of rabbit owners who live very close to a well-established and very knowledgeable exotic vet, who has treated Wick like their own child. Unfortunately,I know many users do not have access to such means or have a difficult time getting a second opinion they trust.
Oxbow, the brand that most vets recommend for food and supplies, regularly hosts ask a vet sessions, where you can comment questions/concerns and Oxbow’s main vet will answer those questions. Personally I’ve asked questions about Wick’s ringworm, the use of probiotics, and upper respiratory infection treatment. While this in no way replaces an actual vet visit, I think for those who may be struggling to find answers, reaching out isn’t a bad idea, especially for more basic questions that you’d like a professional opinion on, rather than BB members. If you’re concerned about revealing your name, you can make a random Instagram account and they also take questions from there as well!
I apologize if this seems like advertising, but it seems like a genuinely good way to get more professional feedback or suggestions. I know some parents are not very convinced by BB members input, but maybe hearing a vet say “Yes, a rabbit should eat mostly hay” or “Yes, spaying and neutering is important” may put people in a better position to improve their pet’s quality of life.
If anyone is weary, feel free to message me and I can post your question on your behalf and message you back the vet’s response! Oxbow typically announces the sessions 1-2weeks before they happen on social media.
