        Hi!

I just found a red pimple-like bump on my bunny’s head.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any idea on what that is and if it requires medication or a visit to the vet?

        Thanks!!!

          Hello, welcome to the forum

I would take the bun to the vet. I’m thinking it might be mites or an infection of some sort :/

Vet visit is required. It seems like an open wound that’s a bit developed.Whether it’s a scrape or the start of something more serious, either way it requires a vet to provide you with the proper medication and direction for treatment. Cuts/scrapes that are typically left to heal on their own are not that big.

Does your bun get outdoors time? I’m thinking it could be a botfly/warble. If it is, don’t try to remove it yourself.

I’d contact a vet because if it’s growing something is going on. Bunnies are prone to getting abscesses, and rabbit abscesses should be drained by a vet, because rabbit pus is very thick.

Ditto everyone else. Vet for sure. And I agree with Bam, my first thought was botfly or abscess.

It looks like a botfly or open abscess to me as well.
