Hi guys. I just had my rabbit neutered today. He was pretty out of it when I got him home, but after a few hours hes much more aware-and consequently aware of the pain hes in too. He’s licking/biting at his incision and then jumping when he gets it because it hurts no doubt. I managed to get him a dose of the pain meds they gave me “val/tor” or whatever. I put on some music to maybe distract him from the pain a little too.

His poor little nutsack is pretty swollen post surgery. I removed the second floor of his cage because he was jumping up and down frantically and I didn’t want him to tear anything.

I’ve had 4 other rabbits neutered and one other spayed, the dummy just keeps licking it.

How long usually till a dose of that ultra expensive juice kicks in?

Any other tips on how to distract him/make him a little more comfortable? Thanks in advance!

This is just info I’ve heard from others, but wanted to respond since no one had yet.

Licking at the incision is no good, so hopefully his pain meds kick in soon. Try to stop him from doing that… and ask you vet about it. I know e-collars are bad for bunnies, but ripping out sutures is very bad.

It’s good you took down his second level, as you shouldn’t let him climb or jump up on anything.

          He eating and pooping Ok?

After Alfie’s neuter, he mostly left the incision alone, but in terms of comfort, he really enjoyed having a hot waterbottle to snuggle up to! I think it helped ease the pain a bit.
