        Hi everyone!

This is my first time posting but I always use this site since becoming a new bunny parent

I have a 6 month old rabbit, Fliss. She has recently been spayed so I’ve been searching for a friend for her. She’s a small (1kg) lionhead so I wanted a small male.

I’ve finally found a rescued male, small lionhead but he’s about 3 years old apparently and been neutered. I’m really worried about the bonding though with the age difference. Will it work?

I’m picking him up on Sunday and have a different cage for him etc..

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

        Thanks!
        Kirstie

Hello! How long ago was Fliss spayed exactly? You definitely need to let hormones die down for at least I think a couple weeks or so before you start bonding. However, pre-bonding works well. Just start with swapping things between their cages like blankets, water bottles, toys etc. until you’re sure they’re familiar with each others scents. Introduce them in a neutral area that neither of them has ever been in (a LOT of people suggest a bathtub because it’s cold and hard and will make them nervous so they rely on each other for comfort). Since she’s so young it should be very easy for her to adapt to a new bunny, I know my Hermione did with NO trouble on her end whatsoever. She hopped right up to the two bucks that completely towered over her and she thought they were the coolest thing for about three seconds then got bored and went to go explore. It really depends on their personalities. Just watch for bullying from him, keep a very close eye on them and from my experience the age difference shouldn’t be any kind of problem at all.
          Good luck!
