Hi everyone! I work at a pet store and this bunny was abandoned there a couple nights ago so I took him in. I know a lot about the care of house rabbits and have many other small critters so don’t worry, he’s in good hands. But what I don’t know is what breed he is, so I was hoping someone could tell me? He’s a small rabbit but I’m not sure if he’s fully grown yet (only next available exam/neuter appt isn’t til the end of the month), and he has very small ears for a bun according to almost everyone who has seen him. He’s only about 1.5 ft in length. I will attach some photos. Thanks in advance!

                      He’s super cute!
I see lionhead also. He could even be full breed, just “un-maned” or single mane that may grow in more later. His slender legs remind me of mini rexes and dutches though. Or maybe some other dwarf breed?

He would be called a charlie-marked bunny due to the pattern on his coat.

oh okay! yeah i definitely think he’s a dwarf breed at least partly because he’s very small. and “charlie marked” is so cute! never knew that term but now i do! thank you!

File to big or are you using a mobile device?

This is a pattern that can show in a number of breeds and/or breed mixes. As Harley&Thumper mentioned, the pattern looks like the English Spot (breed) rabbits have. You can have little dwarf buns displaying this pattern, along with larger chunkier rabbits. The actual English Spot breed is a largish rabbit but has a hare-like body form. Very arched.

Hotots won’t have any colour on the ears. I think he just looks similar to them due to pattern genetics.

I agree with Jersey. He could just be an unmaned lionhead. The “English Spot” or broken pattern has been introduced into the lionhead breed. Broken patterned lionheads are actually quite popular. So I would not go off the color or pattern.

ETA: An unmaned lionhead is not unusual. Lionheads come in single or double mane. Sometimes a single maned lionhead will start to lose their mane as they mature. By the time they are an adult, they are just left with some longer hair around their ears (very much like what your bun looks like).

His face isnt flat and his ears are a bit too long. He could be a false dwarf, or a mini Im seconding lionhead mix. He is so freaking cute!

Adorable!!! I def see Lionhead too. My best guess would be Lionhead/Nethie mix.
