I keep my 2 buns in my bedroom, so in the morning and at night I’m constantly walking around. The problem is, one of my buns has a habit of following me and walking/hopping exactly where my foot lands when I walk. It’s so weird. He will be in his cage (which is always open) then the next minute, I feel a soft thing on my shin and he scurries away. I am always conscious of them so I always try to step over them but my goodness he moves so fast to follow me in excitement he often ends up getting side swiped. But sometimes he dashed out of nowhere my the time I’ve taken a step. This happens like 3-5 times a day without fail. I’ve never actually STEPPED on him like on his body or head but I’ve stepped on his paws, scooped him up an inch with my feet, and just generally bump him in the head. The other bunny doesn’t do this, even though she follows me around too. she seems aware that my feet can move at any second and realizes that what goes up must come down so I’ve only bumped into her a few times.

What the heck do I do? Has this happened to anyone else? I feel like a Terrible rabbit owner

Note: I’m not doing this on purpose and try my best to avoid them nor am walking super hard or fast. Neither of them have ever been hurt. He just gets a bit annoyed like “why does this keep happening to me?”

Oh don’t worry it happens to the best of us I always watch the ground when I’m walking near the rabbits but even then, they still get underfoot sometimes. One thing I’ve learned, never wear shoes around therm! Socks or soft slippers yes, shoes no! That way if you step on a paw, its unlikely to hurt them them.

Another useful tip (other than wearing socks) is to drag your feet. I used to do that when K was little (both in size and age lol) and kept ending up kicked or stomped.

Yep! The good ole’ bunny shuffle. I basically skate around my apartment in socks.

Don’t worry, it happens to all of us . Both the no-shoes policy and bunny shuffle are good ideas. It’s become the norm for me .

Lol…yes. The new means of moving about one’s house. Aptly described as the bunny shuffle! I remember when Icey was still young and she was nowhere to be seen. I would go into the kitchen in the old house and (as someone accurately stated before on here) she would have teleported right there next to my foot. No sound whatsoever. So I walk straight to the kitchen counter, don’t even stop for a second, turn around and I would send her across the smooth tile floor like a hockey puck. Freaked me out! It took two or three times of seeing this little white furball sliding across the floor and spinning with her front paws splayed out for me to learn the new way of life of moving about the house.

Just know that they (or apparently at least one of them) will always be around you. Walk deliberately and more slowly with a slight shuffle. No shoes as stated above is an excellent idea. And be cautious when turning around. It becomes second nature before you know it.

I wanna say I kick/step on both boys at least 3-5 times a day every day. Bombur has a bad habit of sitting on my toes when I’m by Asriel’s cage, and sometimes I’ll forget he’s there and step on his poor little paw. Asriel follows me around the room, so he often gets the brunt of my feet xD the bunny shuffle and socks are both things that I employ constantly, and they help for the most part. They’re always fine though

Clover does this to me all the time, and has scared the crap out of me more than once.  So when I’m in the rabbit areas, I’ve gotten back into the habit of doing what we Floridians call “The Stingray Shuffle”, a technique most of learn early to prevent stepping and gettingbimpaled by stingrays.  Feet never come more than a half inch off the ground and move more l kookke a cow (Or in this case, bunny) catcher.  Any buns who would get stepped on just nudged aside.  Granted, it does FA to prevent bunnies from tripping you, but they won’t get stepped on while you end up writhing in pain on the floor.  And they laugh.
