        Hi friends!

A few weeks ago I noticed an odd membranous growth enveloping one of my bunny Pancake’s eyes. It’s not bulging, thankfully. I took him to the vet and they told me it’s “too soon to tell” what it could be, and just to keep an eye on him. I’m just hoping anyone has insight into their own experiences with this because I’m not able to find many details on it. From what i can tell, it can either be a tooth abscess, thymoma, or pseudopterygium. It could even be a simple infection that can be washed out with saline? I Would love to see if I can give him some home treatments before taking him back to the vet (only for them to tell me they don’t know what it is).

Here are some photos. It’s hard to tell but the membrane surrounds his entire eye. https://m.imgur.com/a/pJJ3I

          Hi Nicole.

Is it always there or does it recede at times?

It looks like a conjunctival overgrowth. If it’s permanent like that, im not sure what the implications of leaving it as is would be. There is a surgery where they can stitch part of the membrane so it is in place where it should be. I suppose similar to what they do for cherry-eye in dogs.

            Found this on medirabbit. http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Eye_diseases/Disorder/Pteryg/Pteryg_en.htm
I see it is also called pseudoterygium so maybe you’ve already checked out this page.

Yes, that’s the site I found! That’s exactly what the overgrowth looks like. It doesn’t recede at all from what I can tell. It surrounds his eye just like that. I came here because that’s the only site I could find with info.

I really don’t know what you could do at home to help in the meantime, tbh. Maybe some lubricating eye drops? They wouldn’t be harmful.
