cooper has always been finicky with his ears but lately it seems to have been getting worse. he’ll shake his head a bunch like he’s trying to dislodge something then scratch, rinse and repeat. he’ll also excessively groom them. he hasnt scratched to the point of it being raw but still more than normal. he wont let me touch his ears at all now but i managed to see the inside were still healthy and pink, but im worried something mightve gotten caught in his ear canal? how would i check if he doesnt let me touch his ears, should i just take him to the vet?

A visit to the vet is probably best. If it is just something lodged there the vet could safely remove it but from what it sounds like it’s something big enough to be really bothering him or it’s an ear infection, which can even become fatal with rabbits. How long has this been going on? If he won’t let you touch them and you can’t see inside you should probably just get him to a vet.

It could be earmites but I agree that a vet visit would be best to make sure it isn’t anything serious.

oh no :c i tried checking again and when he’s calmer he’ll let me touch his ears, just not when he’s having a scratching episode. it’s been going on for a couple of weeks i think. i tried to get a flashlight and see if there was anything lodged in there but as expected that didnt work all too well. i’ll email his vet as soon as i can to see what she thinks :0
