My rabbit, Lola, is litter trained but I’m seeing a lot of people who’s rabbits go to the bathroom differently. Right now, Lola uses her entire cage as her litter box, using the bathroom in the bedding. It’s akin to a cat litter box. She goes in there to do her business, eat or drink. I see some people have rabbits who sleep in their cages but have a separate pan where they use the bathroom. Should I train her to use a pan? Is she supposed to use her cage for more than the 3 things I listed above? I just want to know the best ways for her to live.

It can be your preference. Generally people like litter boxes because it’s a small area that’s easy to clean our regularly. A whole cage for cleaning is just a bit more to do, but if it’s something you’re fine with and you keep it clean, it’s not a wrong way. Litter training is a human-created idea for rabbits, so there’s nothing too right or wrong, just as long as your rabbit is able to go to the bathroom in a clean place regularly.

I just spent so much on getting her toys but once I get more money I’ll probably try a pan. Cleaning out the whole cage is definitely a hassle, especially since she refuses to use it if it’s not completely clean lol thanks!
