I know it’s not his fault, but it’s come to a point where it’s just too much. After his neuter, Toby has been acting really crazy and has been destroying everything. He lives mostly in his x pen and Nic grid cage, but I do let him free roam some parts of the day. The first thing he chewed was my bed. He made many marks and cuts in it. The next thing he destroyed was my Bible. I left it on my shelf, but he somehow got up there lol. Then, he destroyed my keyboard. he bit the chord and it also did some damage to the computer. Next, he destroyed a cable in our TV! I’ve tried getting and making him toys, but he just shows no interest in them at all. I love him with all my heart and would never ever re-home him. But can you guys maybe give me some ideas on how I can let him free roam without him destroying everything?

I never realized how important Bluetooth was until I got Luna . Is the TV and computer in the same room? I’ve seen some C&C grids used to block off areas where there are multiple cords. For places where there is a single cord, there are cord covers sold at hardware stores that help protect against chewing (Note: Most are only effective enough to protect the cord if you catch Toby starting to chew on it. The cover isn’t strong enough to protect the cord if he were left to sit and chew at it for a few minutes.)

Sarahthegemini has free roam buns. I’m sure she could offer some ideas on how she keeps those two under control .

Thanks Luna!!! The TV and computer are not in the same room. I’m going to have to buy some of the things you mentioned and see if they help. I’ll wait and see if anyone who has free roams will respond to this forum. Toby is not a free roam, but he’s out for like 2-3 hours a day I’d say. I wish I could give him more time out, but my schedule just doesn’t work like that. My house also is definitely not bunny proofed either. But on the bright side, at least Toby isn’t like other buns who live in a pet store bought cage all day. He rotates his time between a large dog x pen, and a huge 2 story bunny condo made with C&C grids. That doesn’t count the time he’s out. I have a very strong bond with him <3 <3 <3

I’ve got a free roam bun!

Thor’s pretty good, but she will chew up cords and books . Here’s a few things I’ve done to make the apartment Thor-proof

Put a small gate of NIC grids around the foot of our bed – prevents her from getting under it into our storage and chewing on the legs.

Pet gates between most rooms so we can contain her in a section of the apartment if we are doing something bunny-dangerous.

Last, we have a ton of cords, computer, TV, etc. So instead of locking Thor in a cage, we just put our cords behind a gate. It’s kindof funny but we did upgrade to a nicer gate so it looks OK in the apartment. Here’s a picture of Thor by the gate back when it was also hiding our Christmas tree

Would something like this work for your setup?

Thank you so much! Thor is such a cute name for a bunny! He looks adorable in that pic My parents won’t let me put pet gates everywhere in our house, so that’s why he has to be in a cage most of the day. We do have a finished basement that’s carpeted, so he runs around down there for a good 2 hours. But there are rooms down in the basement and he destroyed many things in those rooms. My parents and I blocked off the places he can’t go, so the problem is solved

I think I’m going to buy him the maze haven or the cottontail cottage some day so that he can play in it. He’s a very destructive bun, so which out of the cottontail cottage and the maze haven would you think he’d like better?

Would something like this work for your setup?

You can get these clear tube things from your local home store, they are used for draining water and you can use them as cord protectors. Use a little Dove soap(dove is non toxic for buns only) and wipe a lite amount on your bed where you don’t want bun to chew or you can get a bitter apple spray. Mouse cords were Jax’s favourite and the minute he saw one it was his mission!

Corrugated loom is a term you can search on amazon and such for some cheap wire covers as well. I’ve personally never used them, but I’ve seen other people have.
