        Hey everyone

So my Lik Bun Bun has toys galore- rattles, toy balls, boxes, the rosewood house, pillows, hay ball, sticks, tunnels etc… only thing is…she barely issues them! I bought her a cardboard rosewood house- nope! She’ll chew a bit on it, but when it’s in her pen at anytime she kicks it around. She won’t sleep on any soft items- pillow, blankets, mats. Her pen has carpeting where she sleeps which she pounded and flops on- but nothing else. Is this normal?!? She plays with me, runs free in the apartment supervised so I know she’s okay , but don’t most buns want a shelter or hidy hole or something to borrow in?!

No, she’s perfectly okay. Keep it in there as an option but some rabbits prefer not to hide, like my bun Hermione. I think it just means she’s more social and comfortable around you guys and probably doesn’t feel the need to hide. Hermione has plenty of spots to hide but she prefers wider spaces where she can look around, she always has. As for not playing with the toys some bunnies just don’t like them. Hermione loves em, George and Ginny won’t touch em. It really just depends on the bunny but she’s fine.
Just keep the hidey hole available in case she gets spooked or uneasy so she feels like she has somewhere safe but other than that she seems perfectly normal.

my bunny flapjack is the same way! i’ve bought him all kinds of toys so he won’t get bored and he has something to chew on, but he doesn’t touch them at all. i also had a hidey space for him when i first got him, but he never used it, and since it didn’t fit in his cage i decided to retire it. one thing he does like though- his cage has a shelf (originally had a ramp, but i took it off since he can easily hop up there) that i usually feed him on, and he really likes to lounge underneath the shelf.

i’d say as long as your bun is still happy and healthy, i wouldn’t worry (even though its soooo easy to do that with our buns)

Speaking about not playing with toys, my boy toby is the same exact way. Every single time I’ve bought him nice toys, I expect him to react excited, or at least play with the. But no, that’s not the case. I always fall in the trap of getting him new toys and then he’ll just never play with them. People told me to make him toys out of cardboard and toilet paper rolls. Nope, he hated them and they didn’t work either. He’s just rather run around in my basement and chew up my furniture….

Have you tried filling the toilet paper rolls wit treats? Or maybe stuffing it with hay and some pellets here and there? My rabbit once spent hours trying to find every last treat in a toilet paper roll even though he never touches other toys.

Haha yup… I’m very surprised he’s not into that. He loves apple sticks though!

And when you said that you put a treat in the toilet paper roll, didn’t it fall out? When I put a treat in the toilet paper roll, it fell right out. Is the treat supposed to be as big as the toilet paper roll? Cause if it’s in a pellet form, it’ll fall right out and won’t be any fun for the buns.

You fold the edges over so they can push it around and chew on it to undo it

You can also cut holes in the side after folding it so that when the push it around treats fall out. My bunnies like those a lot.

Sorry to double post but i forgot to add this. If you go to pinterest and search diy rabbit toys there are a lot of good toys. I’m very creative so my bunnies have so many toys. I have two extra buckets of toys plus everything in their cage. My bunnies like the little balls that have a bell in it. They are cat toys but they work great for bunnies. My bunnies have woven mats out of cardboard. Pinterest is my main source for bunny toy ideas.

Thanks Cocoa! I’m not really that type of person that’s on the creative side, but am definitely going to try to make him some toys. I’m actually going to check Pinterest right now!

Oh, and when toby was a little baby, he was obsessed with the cat balls that have the little jingle bell in them. They were his favorite.

Some bunnies just don’t like toys as much and it’s okay! I think that providing them anyways is a good idea though. No two buns are the same either. My Jake doesn’t really care for toys but Yulie LOVES them. Theyll both join in if food is involved, though
