Petunia is 11 weeks (almost 12 weeks on Monday). I had swapped her over to Mr Buns’ side last night as I am what you could say pre-bonding? Anyways I did not know that Mr Buns had a large piece of his carrot and dill and parsley stashed in his hidey box and caught her going to town on it. She ate about a finger size worth- I’m not sure how much is a small amount for a bun this age as I’ve been used to giving my adult buns a large amount of veggies.
Anyways, do I need to be overly concerned? She’s a very active bun and I’m concerned she will have tummy problems.  She has a VERY large appetite for a little bun eating hay and her tim pellets and I did give her a teeny weeny piece of Dill and parsley that didn’t seem to have any effect on her- poops were great and normal. I know as she is reaching 12 weeks I can start introducing veggies but what signs should I look for? I didn’t see very many poops in her “area” this morning when I came in this morning and was kind of surprised as lately there has been some poop wars happening so I do I need to be concerned? How long does it take for the digestive tract to move? She just did the bunny flop and is alert and is drinking. I’m so nervous! I have read on the forums Romaine lettuce is the best on the tummy- should I start with only that?

I actually just said that in a recent post, start with romaine. It’s the easiest on the tummy. and just give your girl only that for a few days and monitor her poops, then you can introduce another after a few days, and really repeat that.

How much Romain do you suggest- a leaf? Half of a leaf or 1/4?

I’d say give a whole leaf. I did that with my boys, and it worked well.

Okay great I am not sure how to tell how much is too much- for a 2 lbs bun she can really put away a large portion of hay and 1/2 cup of pellets- the pellets do not last her the hole day so she’s technically on 1 cup per day

                Thanks again!

A good rule of thumb is 1 cup of greens per 2 pounds of bodyweight. Once she’s used to eating greens you can start giving that amount regularly.

Okay perfect- so she can have 1 cups. Now what about carrots- I know they have a high sugar content so should I stick with about 1/4 of a carrot or is that too much?
