Would appreciate opinions on whether this is an issue. I have 2 rabbits. Both have this fluffy appearance on their back end. It seems to have happened just over the last couple of months. I don’t, therefore, think it’s moulting that’s causing it.

I have seen the vet and he says it’s nothing to worry about, but it seems very odd to me.

They’re 18 months old and it’s never happened before.

What happens when you tug lightly on it? What happens when you brush it? Are both bunnies from the same litter?

It looks sort of like Lionhead fluff to me – could they be part lionhead? It’s strange that it would grow in at 18 months though. My lionhead mix bunnies have those sort of light tufty bits near their bums.

Both bunnies are from the same litter. It doesn’t come loose if I pull it. It feels a little bit brittle so I was worried when it first appeared that it might just be from the damp weather, but it’s not that. They are mini-lop ears so I don’t think there’s any lionhead in there.

Mine are mini-lop lionhead crosses, and look totally like mini lops, apart from some tufts like that around their bums, and one has lots of long hair around her ears too.

Have a look at my old bunny (you can see it more clearly on him)

I see what you mean. Interesting.

Maybe that’s what it is. I have the original breeder’s details so I may get in touch to confirm.
