Today I came down and noticed my bunny George hadn’t touched his hay from last night, I let him out to give him pellets and clean cage and he seem like his chest was ruttling, all of a sudden he ran into his cage and flopped out of his litter tray and seemed like he couldn’t get up again then threw his head into the air and seemed like gasping for air. I rushed him to the vets…… he did it again while at the vets then came round again, he’s been given painkillers and a mild sedative and antibiotics and told to keep an eye on him and if he’s any worse to take him back….. once home he did it again and seemed like he was really gasping for air but has come round again now and is eating…. I was so scared he wasn’t going to make it he’s only 7 months old has this happened to anyone else and if so did they pull through??
He’s my little baby I love him so much ?

I’m so sorry to hear this! It’s great that you took him to the vets right away and some medication was given. Did the vets inform you what they thought may be happening?

The priority is making sure he is breathing and making sure he’s eating and drinking. Wet his veggies extra if he’s not drinking on his own, and do what you can do make sure he eats. If he does not, you may need to force feed Critical Care, which is something you can buy online or sometimes vets offices have it.

I had to tempt him to eat but he’s eating on his own now, they just said that if he doesn’t improve he may have contracted a virus and there nothing they can do if so ? feel so anxious as he’s like my little baby and don’t want anything to happen to him!

Sadly George didn’t make it, so I’m locking this thread.
