Chito dug on a rag stuck under a cabinet and his nail broke halfway (no dangling bit left though I think it split right to the quick). It’s late now and the earliest vet is tmr at 9am, but I will be in an event at work the entire day, so I might not be able to take him to the vet.

I’m really bad with nails and he won’t let me touch the broken one is this an urgent thing? It’s not bleeding unless he digs with it. Can I bring him the day after tomorrow?

To be honest, it probably doesn’t need a vet at all. These things happen, and will generally heal by themselves. I’ve accidentally cut the quick when cutting nails before, and have just dabbed a bit of flour on it to stop the bleeding. It healed perfectly fine by itself.

If it looks like its causing him pain, if he keeps fiddling with it, or if there’s an injury to the toe, then take him to the vet, but if it’s just a broken nail it will likely heal by itself

Thank you so much!! I was so worried. I’ll wait and ask someone at home to look at him while I’m gone!
